A 2-hour One-Time Coaching session is usually scheduled for those who want more than just the number crunching of the Budget Check-Up but don’t want to commit to the six-month coaching program. Your coach will help you power through the numbers, but will also take a deeper look at what effects the numbers and give you recommendations accordingly.

SUFC Coach Story

Merinda Bundy

$20. I remember having $20 to buy food for myself and my toddler. At 8 months pregnant with Braxton-Hicks I was scrubbing toilets for people to earn enough cash to get food, diapers, cell phone minutes, and pay my parents a tiny bit of rent for my childhood bedroom. Though my now ex-husband had kicked out both me and the toddler and refused to support us, it wasn’t until my new baby was 6 months old that I finally filed for divorce.

During my marriage I would stand in front of the empty refrigerator and cry, while he was at work with fast food and soda. While we were separated I ended up having to go on welfare. After the divorce I became the sole supporter of my two little ones.

My children don’t remember not having enough to eat. They don’t remember me crying in the kitchen. They don’t remember me agonizing between which foods we could afford or not. They don’t remember not being able to call Gramom because Mama couldn’t afford phone minutes.

Because of this I chose to become a Financial Coach. Because I know what it’s like to have to choose between milk or eggs. Because I know what it’s like to sit in line at the food pantry. Because I know what it’s like to cry because you have less than $400 a month to live on with 2 babies. Because I know what it’s like to work all day away from your young children. Because I know what it’s like to be a single parent working a full time job and a part time job just to make ends meet. Because I know what it’s like to take three steps forward and two steps back.

This is why I chose to become a financial coach.
